The type of coverage you can get for your appliance will depend on the kind of service plan that you decide to purchase. With multiple policies, Assurant does offer a way for you to pick one the option that best fits the cost of the appliance and your plans. This variety allows you to receive more than the basic coverage given by a factory warranty.

If you decide that you want to cancel your warranty, Assurant allows you to do so at any time. If you submit your cancellation notice within 30 days of purchase, you will receive a complete refund. Presenting a cancellation notice at any time past this point means you will receive a pro-rated price minus any claims or $25.

Assurant does not have explicit details of the cost of their protection plans available online. However, policies available from their branch companies, like Service Protection Advantage, can cost between $75 and $200, depending on the length of your coverage and the number of appliances you choose to cover. It can be natural to consider purchasing an extended warranty, especially whenever you're investing in a costly appliance. These plans seem to provide peace of mind and some help whenever troublesome repairs arise, but Assurant appears to be lacking severely in that key element: providing the assistance that customers are paying for and need.
In comparison to some other warranties out there, Assurant doesn't have too many exceptions and loopholes to prevent certain types of problems and repairs from qualifying. However, even without numerous provisions to make it easy for the company to pull out of fixing an appliance, Assurant seems to do plenty of that by throwing up red tape and just providing minimal service.
When you combine that with the already somewhat lacking ends in its service, Assurant starts to seem less and less like a reasonable extended warranty solution. Customers from around the company report issues, and vendors as well. With the minimal amount of information available on the company's website about pricing and policies, it's not very appealing.
The delay of service and the lack of a no-use reimbursement policy seal the deal: that Assurant Solutions policies are not worth your time or money. Instead, you may find a much better (and more reliable) deal for coverage from another source. The question just then becomes a matter of if you want to do the groundwork or if you'd rather tuck your spare $200 into savings.
Even across comparable extended warranty plans, it may be in your better interest to simply build an emergency fund, rather than paying out for what Assurant can offer. If you don't have any problems with your appliance throughout its lifetime (or the length of an extended policy), then you'll have the money available for other things. Most necessary repairs often don't cost as much as you'd expect.
